AQUINAS is a specialised MATLAB finite element (FE) toolbox for the nonlinear analysis of axisymmetric thin-walled shell systems, conceived by Authors to recover research functionality once widely available but now largely lost in age supposedly ‘general’ 3D FE software. exploits powerful built-in sparse linear algebra routines with efficient matrix assembly pre-compiled and parallelised C++ code via MEX functionality, as well MATLAB’s extensive visualisation quality-of-life features. In addition making bifurcation buckling calculations shells more accessible wider community, designed facilitate ongoing active development structural Eurocode EN 1993-1-6 governing design metal civil engineering through its capability automate accurate computation nominal resistance capacity curves reference systems.
